Rules and Regulations
Wrestler Registration
Wrestlers must reside in one of the following counties; Adams, Cumberland, Franklin, Perry, York and must select the school district in which they reside. Wrestler may only submit one Entry Form. No Double Bracketing. Birth Certificate and proof of residency of wrestlers must be provided if challenged.
Weight Changes
No weight changes are permitted after 9:00 pm on Wednesday, February 18, 2026. ALL weight changes must be submitted in writing to info@pjwareaix.com. No phone or text weight changes will be accepted. Wrestlers not making weight at weigh-in will forfeit their entry without refund.
Waiver & Code of Conduct
Release and Waiver of Liability Agreement & Participant Code of Conduct form must be completed and brought along to weigh in. Failure to comply with any PJW or PIAA rule will result in disciplinary action and/or forfeiture of participation.
Divisions
Girls must compete in the “Girls Division” only. Boys must compete in the “Boys Division” only. (Birth Certificate)
Wrestler Eligibility
Wrestlers in grades 7 thru 9 with PIAA-defined Junior High eligibility may participate. No wrestler with PIAA-defined Varsity or Jr. Varsity experience will be permitted. An 11 and 12-year-old on a Jr. High roster may choose only one PJW tournament series (Youth or Jr. High).
Advancing to States
Advancing wrestlers will be required to pay a non-refundable $100.00 apparel fee plus $5 electronic payment processing fee prior to leaving tournament. Advancing Jr. High wrestlers will receive their Area 9 apparel after payment is complete. Advancing Youth wrestlers will receive their Area 9 apparel at the Youth State Championship Tournament during weigh-ins.
Wrestling Details
All Championship bout times for 12U are 1:30 – 1:00 – 1:00. 8U and 10U are 1:00-1:00-1:00. PIAA Overtime rules will apply. Seeding will be by records provided on entry form. Full double elimination format.
Additional Details
Head gear is required, shoe laces must be secured, mouth guard is required to cover braces.
All wrestlers must pass skin check and weigh-in in legal singlet without any weight allowance. Communicable Skin Disease Form
